Inyathelo Acting Executive Director, Feryal Domingo in conversation with Voice of the Cape Radio on the current state of the NGO landscape in South Africa and the need for sector support to ensure compliance and sustainability.

Feryal unpacked the realities facing South Africa’s nonprofit sector, from registering an NPO to the far more complex challenges of staying compliant and financially sustainable. She highlighted the crucial role NGOs play in tackling issues like GBV, food security and youth development, while warning that many struggle with governance, oversight and funding, especially after major donors like USAID withdrew.

Feryal also emphasised the need for stronger government support, better capacity building, and diversified income strategies to help NGOs remain resilient and continue serving their communities.
